Another ski season is coming, and that means Amtrak's Winter Park Express is back, too.
Skiers, boarders and snow bunnies are all accessible by train from Denver winter park resort — Colorado's longest continuously operating ski resort, covering more than 3,000 acres.
Tickets for the 2024-2025 ski season are on sale now, with one-way tickets starting at $19.
Winter Park Express trains began operating on December 20 and will run until March 3, with service on select dates.

- Depart Winter Park Resort at 4:35 pm; arrive at Union Station at 7:05 pm
The train also stops at Fraser Winter Park (WIP), about 6 miles north of Winter Park Resort.

One-way fares start at $19 for adults and $9.50 for children (2 to 12 years old), subject to availability.
One of the coolest parts of this experience is that it eliminates the need to drive to the slopes; passengers on board can bring their skis and snowboards as carry-on items and store them in dedicated luggage storage at no extra charge. Passengers can choose between value fares or flexible fares. Value fares are non-refundable and free of charge. If canceled before departure, a 25% fee will be charged. Flex fares are slightly more expensive, but are fully refundable and can be changed for free.
You can also choose between upper and lower deck seating.
If you would like to book this route via Amtrak Guest Rewards points, prices are expected to start around 1,000 points each way.
Other things to know
On the plane, you can enjoy spacious, reclining economy seats with extra legroom, no middle seat and power chargers. Large windows allow you to enjoy panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains along the way. For the best views, head upstairs to the two-story Sightseer Lounge, which features floor-to-ceiling windows and seating. Downstairs there is an Amtrak Café serving regular snacks and drinks.
If you want to get to Winter Park Resort on a weekday, you can take the Amtrak California Zephyr; it operates daily between Chicago and the San Francisco Bay Area, via Denver and Fraser, Colorado. Once you arrive in Colorado, a shuttle will take you another 8 miles to the resort. In this case, be sure to search for the station code WPS to reserve the shuttle.
