Belmond will introduce British Explorer, July 2025, luxury sleeper trains in England and Wales.
The Britannia Explorer will depart from London and offer a three-night journey with a choice of three routes through the landscapes of Cornwall, the Lake District and Wales. The routes are arranged to enable travelers to combine two regional trips into one: the Cornwall and Lake District route operates from Friday to Monday, while the Wales route operates from Monday to Thursday.
Belmond said the train would “blend timeless railway heritage with contemporary British food, culture and style.”
Fine dining will be designed by Simon Rogan, whose restaurants have a total of eight Michelin stars and two Michelin green stars. Rogan, a leader in the UK’s farm-to-table movement, will create menus that celebrate seasonal, sustainable ingredients sourced locally to showcase the UK’s different regions. Afternoon tea, lunch and dinner are available on all three train routes.

Cultural programs will invite visitors to discover the best of Britain. Highlights include private tours and dinners at Hauser & Wirth Somerset and the on-site Da Costa restaurant, guided walks through Wales, wild swimming in the Lake District and a visit to the Tremenheere Sculpture Garden in Cornwall.
For those traveling along the Lake District route through the Cotswolds, the British Explorer will stop at the two-Michelin-starred Manor Hotel and Restaurant, Four Seasons ManorBelmond Hotel Oxfordshire.
The social hub of the Britannia Discovery is the bar located inside the observation car. Inspired by Victorian apothecaries, the bar will offer a botanical-inspired cocktail menu, as well as a selection of handcrafted gins and craft beers, highlighting products from independent UK distilleries and breweries.

Belmond said London-based studio Albion Nord was creating “serenely elegant interiors with a distinctly British charm that are distinct from trains”. The accommodation is inspired by the sweeping views of Britain's rugged coastline and rolling hills. The train will have three luxury suites and 15 suites.
The Britannic Explorer joins Belmond's other British trains: the British Pullman and the Royal Scotsman.
Prices start at £11,000 (approximately $14,000) for a double cabin on a three-night itinerary on the Britannia Explorer. It includes excursions, meals, and wine and alcoholic beverages on board.
